Head of Netball
Marlborough College is seeking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Head of Netball to lead and develop our thriving netball programme. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to play a key role within a successful sports department and contribute to wider life at the College.
Sport is a key part of the co\-curriculum at Marlborough. Netball is the major sport for girls in the Lent Term (January to March) with around 23 teams competing regularly on Saturdays in a very competitive fixtures programme. The College routinely has players involved with the Team Bath development programme and A teams representing the College at regional level.
The successful candidate will have played and/or coached at a high level and be passionate about translating their experience to pupils. He or she will be responsible for the club’s strategy and management, whilst delivering first class coaching that continues to build on the success of the current programme and promotes the sport throughout the College.
In addition to the responsibilities related to netball outlined in the brochure, the successful candidate will be expected to make a full pastoral contribution to the College, tutoring in one of our 16 boarding houses or the day house. They will also be expected to make a contribution to the wider sporting programme at the College, especially in the Summer Term
Marlborough College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the College is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children."
