The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice.
You will be working in the Infrastructure OU based in Gravesend (Thurrock) in where we are responsible for bringing design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
We are currently looking for a Head of Logistics and Security who will be accountable for the safe, secure and efficient delivery of all logistics and physical security operations across the Kent Roads main works, ensuring integration across multiple sites and alignment with programme, cost and performance objectives.
As the Head of Logistics and Security, you will
- will lead all logistics planning and operations, including fleet management, traffic management and site coordination, ensuring alignment with the Construction Logistics Strategy.
- support the project's success to be safely delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with the Lower Thames Crossing contractual requirements.
- provide strategic leadership for security across all Kent Roads sites, ensuring effective implementation of the Security Management Plan. In addition, the role acts as the primary interface with LTC Security and emergency services
- Leads the implementation and integration of a robust digital Vehicle Management System (VMS) and site-wide access control solution, ensuring alignment between logistics and security functions and consistent deployment across all worksites.
- The role carries overall accountability for risk management and assurance across logistics and security operations, ensuring that robust systems, controls and governance are in place
- Professional Accreditation in Logistics or Security, such as Construction Logistics Practitioner or other relevant certifications, demonstrating a strong foundation in the field.
- Proven expertise in Security Management, with significant experience leading security functions on large-scale, complex projects, ensuring compliance with security management plans.
- Diploma in Security Management (NVQ Level 5) or Security Management Foundation (IQ Level 3).
- Active membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), reflecting your commitment to professional development and industry standards.
- Deep experience with access control systems and vehicle management systems (VMS),
- Demonstrated leadership in logistics and security functions, with solid line management experience
