Head of Finance

An ambitious and well-regarded sports and youth development charity is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to support the organisation through an important period of operational and reporting improvement.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Resources and managing a small team, this is a hands-on leadership role covering day-to-day finance oversight alongside a number of process improvement and management reporting projects.

The organisation delivers life-changing programmes for young people across London and has a strong reputation within the charity and education sectors.

Key responsibilities • Lead the monthly management accounts process, including commentary, variance analysis and cashflow forecasting

• Coordinate budgeting and forecasting across the organisation


• Oversee audit preparation, statutory reporting and financial controls


• Support budget holders and senior stakeholders with financial analysis and business partnering


• Improve management reporting processes and financial information


• Review and enhance financial models and reporting tools


• Drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes


• Manage and develop two direct reports

Requirements • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

• Previous experience leading day-to-day finance within a charity or not-for-profit organisation


• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience


• Experience supporting audits and statutory accounts preparation


• Advanced Excel skills, including complex modelling and reporting


• Strong Power Query capability highly desirable


• Experience improving management reporting and finance processes


• Comfortable working with large datasets and financial analysis


• Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills


• Experience managing and developing staff


• Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities


• Strong understanding of charity accounting, including restricted funding

This role would suit an experienced finance manager or head of finance who enjoys improving reporting, strengthening processes and operating within a collaborative, purpose-led environment.

Hybrid working is available, with offices based in London.
