Head of Commercial Finance
About Us
A to E Training \& Solutions is a high\-growth, private equity\-backed healthcare training business delivering specialist clinical training and compliance solutions across the UK, with an emerging international presence in Australia. As the recognised market leader within our core specialism of life support training, we work with a broad and established client base including NHS Trusts, private healthcare organisations and healthcare professionals nationwide.
Following continued growth and ongoing operational development across the business, we are seeking to appoint a commercially focused and operationally minded Head of Commercial Finance to join our Senior Leadership Team.
The Opportunity
This is a broad and highly visible role working closely alongside the CEO and wider leadership team. Whilst retaining full responsibility for the finance function, the position extends well beyond traditional financial control and month\-end reporting. The successful individual will play a key role in helping improve visibility across the business, strengthen commercial and operational reporting, support strategic decision\-making and help develop more scalable ways of working as the organisation continues to grow.
We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding how a business operates in practice, not simply from a finance perspective. The role requires an individual who is comfortable moving between the detail of day\-to\-day finance responsibilities and wider operational discussions across service delivery, commercial performance, systems, processes and business improvement activity.
The Role
The successful candidate will take ownership of the finance function including management accounts, reconciliations, cashflow forecasting, payroll oversight, VAT returns and wider financial controls, ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and trusted across the organisation.
Alongside this, there will be significant involvement in developing meaningful reporting around revenue, margin, utilisation, profitability and operational performance to support clearer and more commercially informed decision\-making across the business.
The position will also play an important role in supporting systems development, operational process improvement, reporting infrastructure and wider business change activity. We are particularly interested in individuals who are comfortable working with reporting platforms, operational systems, business intelligence tools and data\-led decision making, helping bridge the gap between finance, operations and commercial performance.
The role will also involve supporting broader business improvement activity across areas such as operational processes, systems, reporting infrastructure, technology implementation and support functions. The successful individual must be comfortable operating beyond traditional finance boundaries and willing to take a pragmatic, hands\-on approach where required to help the business continue to scale effectively.
This role operates within a growing SME environment where priorities can evolve quickly and where flexibility, accountability and problem solving are essential. The successful individual must be comfortable working within environments where processes are continuing to develop and where there is opportunity to introduce greater structure, visibility and consistency across the organisation.
About You
The role would suit a qualified finance professional who is looking for broader exposure and influence within a growing business environment. Candidates are likely to come from Finance Manager, Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partner or broader SME finance leadership backgrounds and should demonstrate strong commercial awareness alongside a hands\-on and proactive approach.
Applicants must hold a recognised qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA and should be comfortable operating closely alongside senior leadership whilst contributing positively across multiple functions of the business.
Experience gained within SME, growth or operationally focused environments would be highly advantageous, alongside exposure to reporting platforms, business intelligence tools, operational systems or process improvement activity.
