The Role
We are seeking an experienced Dental Head Nurse to join our team on a full\-time basis. This is a hands\-on, leadership role suited to a confident all\-rounder with strong knowledge of NHS regulations, clinical governance, and infection control.
You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with NHS and GDC standards, and leading the dental nursing team while remaining clinically involved.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical \& NHS Compliance
- Provide chairside assistance as required
- Ensure full compliance with NHS regulations, GDC Standards
- Oversee infection prevention and control, audits, and protocols
- Manage the Local Decontamination Unit (LDU)
- Prepare and maintain the practice for NHS, CQC/HIS inspections
- Monitor emergency drugs, equipment, and clinical governance systems
- Lead, mentor, train and support the dental nursing team
- Manage nurse rotas and daily workflow
- Support induction, appraisals, training and development
- Be actively involved in recruitment of dental nurses, including interviews and onboarding
- Maintain NHS documentation, policies, audits and compliance records
- Stock control, ordering and supplier management
- Provide reception and front desk support when required
- Support the Practice Manager with day\-to\-day operational and administrative duties
- GDC\-registered Dental Nurse
- Minimum 2 years experience in a dental nursing role
- Strong working knowledge of NHS dentistry regulations and GDC standards
- Proven experience with infection control, audits, and inspection preparation
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Confident leadership and team\-management ability
