We are Yard \& Coop an independent restaurant company in Manchester Northern Quarter. We specialise in creating the most amazing buttermilk fried chicken for our guests and delivering an exceptional experience within our restaurants.

Carl and I started the business 10 years ago over a poker table and work closely with our teams to bring creativity and innovation to our restaurants, we value the ideas and input of our people \- nothing is off the cards!!
Our restaurant in Northern Quarter has a cult following after years of serving up the best buttermilk fried chicken with the biggest smile. We are a busy 300 cover restaurant with a 50plus team of people open 7 days a week \- so our operation needs to be slick at all times.
We are currently looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our business to the next level and set a high standard of compliance and efficiency in our kitchen.
Experience at this level is essential. This is not a role that will be trained in over years \-we will be agreeing targets and training schedules after trial period to get the business moving.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead the culinary team at our NQ Indie Casual Dining Restaurant. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, maintaining high standards of food safety, and fostering a dynamic team environment. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences in a vibrant, independent setting.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, providing clear direction and support to ensure smooth daily operations
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency
- Manage food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining efficiency and adherence to recipes and portion controls
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and hygiene standards across the kitchen
- Organise staff rotas, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor team performance to optimise productivity
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste through efficient stock management
- Collaborate with front\-of\-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Train new staff members in food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organisation, ensuring a safe working environment at all times
- Assist in menu development by introducing innovative dishes aligned with brand identity and customer preferences
- Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
- Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Solid background in food safety standards and hygiene practices recognised by relevant certifications
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience in restaurant operations including food preparation, cooking, serving, and general kitchen management
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast\-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality
- Ability to manage stocks and GP's
