We're looking for a Group Weddings, Banqueting Social Events Manager to join our team!
The Role
We're looking for an experienced and commercially driven Group Weddings, Banqueting Social Events Manager to join our central team at Holiday Inn Rugby\-Northampton.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the commercial performance of weddings, social banqueting and Christmas across our portfolio of hotels, while leading and developing a high\-performing team of seven direct reports.
From helping couples bring their wedding celebrations to life, to delivering memorable Christmas parties and social events, this team plays a key part in connecting customers with the right experience at the right hotel. You'll be responsible for maximising demand, driving conversion and delivering revenue across our weddings, banqueting and Christmas offering.
Reporting directly to the Head of Reservations, Meetings Events, you'll combine strong people leadership with a genuine passion for hospitality, celebrations and commercial success.
What you’ll be doing as our Group Weddings, Banqueting Social Events Manager:
As Group Weddings, Banqueting Social Events Manager, you will provide leadership, coaching and commercial direction to the Weddings, Banqueting and Christmas team, ensuring we maximise every opportunity to drive revenue, conversion and customer satisfaction across our portfolio.
You'll be responsible for supporting the team to deliver an exceptional customer experience, using performance data, commercial insight and market knowledge to identify opportunities, improve ways of working and deliver strong commercial results.
You'll also be a key point of escalation for customers and colleagues, working closely with hotels and the wider commercial team to ensure we operate as one team and deliver a seamless experience from initial enquiry through to event delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Lead, coach and develop a team of seven, creating a positive, supportive and high\-performing environment where people feel motivated to succeed.
- Drive revenue and conversion across weddings, social banqueting, Christmas parties and third\-party ticketed events.
- Ensure the team consistently delivers an exceptional customer experience through both verbal and written communication, building strong emotional connections throughout the customer journey.
- Use customer insight, booking trends and performance data to identify opportunities to grow demand, improve conversion and maximise revenue.
- Oversee the quality of wedding, banqueting and Christmas enquiries, proposals and customer communications through regular dip checks and audits, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, commercial performance and compliance with agreed processes.
- Ensure the team delivers a warm, engaging and personalised customer experience, recognising that weddings, celebrations and Christmas events are often significant and memorable occasions for our customers.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve sales capability, confidence, product knowledge and customer engagement.
- Lead weekly team meetings, creating a strong sense of team connection while keeping everyone focused on commercial priorities and customer outcomes.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex customer issues, commercial challenges and internal queries.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues across our hotel estate, ensuring the central team and hotels work collaboratively to deliver customer excellence.
- Stay close to market trends, customer preferences and competitor activity across weddings, celebrations, social events and Christmas to identify new opportunities.
- Support the Marketing team in ensuring brochures, collateral and e\-campaigns are accurate, commercially focused and effectively targeted.
- Create and implement targeted, limited\-time offers to stimulate demand, support quieter periods and maximise revenue from remaining availability.
- Manage relationships with third\-party vendors supporting online wedding and Christmas platforms, including annual contract reviews and commercial negotiations.
- Identify risks and opportunities early, taking ownership of continuous improvement initiatives that enhance conversion, simplify processes and strengthen customer and commercial outcomes.
- Support people management activity including recruitment, return\-to\-work meetings, performance reviews and monthly one\-to\-ones.
- Support the personal development, wellbeing and career progression of team members.
- Prepare monthly commercial reporting for hotel owners, bringing together performance, trends, opportunities and recommended actions across weddings, banqueting and Christmas.
Who we are looking for:
We're looking for someone who combines strong people leadership with commercial ambition and a genuine passion for weddings, celebrations and hospitality. You'll ideally have:
- Experience of leading, coaching or managing a team, ideally within hospitality, events, weddings, banqueting or another customer\-focused environment.
- A strong understanding of conversion, revenue generation and commercial performance.
- An appreciation of what makes weddings, Christmas parties and social events different from other types of business, and the importance of creating a personalised customer experience.
- Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels across a large hotel portfolio.
- The ability to use data and customer insight to identify opportunities and turn them into meaningful actions.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The confidence to challenge, influence and hold others accountable in a positive and constructive way.
- A passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.
- A natural ability to motivate and develop people, creating a team environment where individuals feel supported and empowered to perform.
- A proactive and creative approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems and improving the way we work.
