Job Title: Group Assistant Buyer

Location: Basingstoke

Hours: 39 hours a week

As Group Assistant Buyer, you'll support the Buying team with day\-to\-day procurement activity, helping to source suitable products, manage orders and maintain accurate buying information. You'll work closely with colleagues, suppliers and site teams to help secure the right materials at the right quality and value.

Just some of the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

  • You'll follow the buying processes, policies and frameworks set by the Group Buying Manager.

  • You'll source suitable products and materials that meet project specifications, quality standards and best\-value requirements.

  • You'll raise purchase orders in Evo M, monitor deliveries, chase outstanding orders and help resolve invoice queries.

  • You'll build positive relationships with supply chain partners and share relevant information on new materials and market trends.

  • You'll prepare spreadsheets and accurate data for project management, buying systems and internal reporting.

  • You'll provide day\-to\-day administrative support, including responding to queries, assisting Accounts, purchasing clothing and PPE, and supporting plant off\-hire activity.

Where you'll be based

You'll be part of our Group Support team, playing a key role in delivering essential support services across all companies and regions within the Group.

You'll be located in the village of Sherborne St John, a ten\-minute drive from Basingstoke town centre, at our company head office.

The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • You'll ideally have previous knowledge of buying processes or experience within retail, procurement or a similar environment.

  • You'll ideally have knowledge of construction materials and products.

  • You'll have strong IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and online systems.

  • You'll be well organised, numerate and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.

  • You'll work collaboratively as part of a team while also using your initiative with minimal supervision.

  • You'll communicate confidently with suppliers and internal stakeholders, with a proactive approach and developing negotiation skills.
