Graduation Assistant (Summer Graduation Ceremonies)

Location: Glasgow
Contract: Temporary 23rd June to 3rd July
Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Job Purpose

Our client is seeking to recruit a team of enthusiastic and professional Graduation Assistants to support the delivery of their Summer Graduation Ceremonies.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide a welcoming first point of contact for graduating students and their guests, helping to ensure that ceremonies run smoothly and efficiently.

You will develop and maintain a working knowledge of graduation procedures and associated administrative processes, providing guidance and support to students throughout their graduation experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check and verify degree parchments for accuracy

  • Allocate graduation guest tickets in accordance with established procedures

  • Sign in graduating students and maintain accurate attendance records

  • Identify and resolve student enquiries and issues within agreed guidelines

  • Escalate complex issues to Graduation Staff where appropriate

  • Assist with queue management and crowd flow to minimise bottlenecks and support the smooth running of events

  • Provide information, guidance and assistance to students and guests throughout the ceremonies

  • Contribute positively to the overall graduation experience by delivering a high standard of customer service

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
You will be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience of participating in or supporting large-scale events

  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • An enthusiastic, helpful and approachable manner

  • Experience of delivering high-quality customer service, including providing direct support, advice and guidance

  • The ability to deal sensitively with students, exercising tact, diplomacy and discretion

  • The ability to remain calm, professional and organised under pressure

  • Recently graduated from university or have experience of working within a higher education environment would be advantageous
