Graduate Materials \& Corrosion Engineer

Concrete Preservation Technologies Limited (CPT) is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Materials \& Corrosion Engineer to join our growing Technical Department based in Long Eaton, Nottingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate with a passion for engineering, materials science or chemistry to begin a specialist career in the investigation, assessment and protection of reinforced concrete infrastructure.

No previous industry experience is required. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing mentoring and a structured development programme designed to help you become a specialist corrosion engineer.

Working alongside experienced engineers and industry experts, you will develop practical knowledge of reinforced concrete deterioration, electrochemistry, corrosion science and cathodic protection systems while contributing to major infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

The Role

As a Graduate Materials \& Corrosion Engineer, you will:

  • Learn the mechanisms of reinforced concrete deterioration

  • Assist with the interpretation of laboratory and site investigation results.

  • Support the production of technical reports and corrosion assessments.

  • Learn how to design galvanic, hybrid and impressed current cathodic protection systems.

  • Analyse half\-cell potential surveys, chloride profiles, carbonation depths and other durability testing.

  • Assist with the preparation of technical specifications and design calculations.

  • Attend sites across the UK to inspect reinforced concrete structures and support technical investigations.

  • Work closely with our survey teams and partners to develop practical repair strategies.

  • Develop into a specialist corrosion consultant capable of independently designing corrosion protection systems.
Every project is different, providing exposure to bridges, tunnels, car parks, buildings, ports, marine structures, power stations and other critical infrastructure.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with genuine curiosity and an interest in understanding why structures deteriorate and how engineering can solve these problems.

Ideally you will have:

  • A degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another STEM discipline.

  • Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills.

  • Excellent written communication and technical report writing ability.

  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.

  • The ability to interpret technical information and scientific data.

  • A willingness to travel throughout the UK when required.

  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm to develop specialist knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a STEM subject (essential)

  • Full UK Driving Licence (preferred)

  • Right to work in the UK
