Roughan \& O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a graduate engineer with one to two years’ relevant experience for a permanent position within our expanding transportation team in Cork

About the role

You will join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team with an impressive track record of delivering transportation projects for upgraded rail lines, light railways, motorways, public transport facilities, rural roads, greenways, cycleway and pedestrian schemes across Ireland and the UK.

Our team has the experience and skills to cover the full life cycle of transport assets, from initial investigations and modelling, through construction management, to the maintenance of transport networks.

Current and recent projects include:

  • Cork Area Commuter Rail Phase 2

  • BusConnects Cork

  • BusConnects Dublin

  • Clontarf to City Centre Project

  • enhancing Motorway Operations Services (eMOS) Programme

  • Renfrew Bridge, Renfrewshire, Scotland

  • West Clare Railway Greenway

  • DART\+ West (Maynooth Line Upgrade)
Essential
-------------
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil/transport/environmental engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)

  • Basic knowledge of planning application processes

  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • A strong work ethic

  • Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
Desirable
-------------
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Level 9 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)

  • Working towards becoming a chartered member of a recognised professional body in the engineering sector

  • Competency in AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS); the Traffic Signs Manual; the Cycle Design Manual; and the Traffic Management Guidelines manual
