About Ward7/Haematology Day Unit at Western General Hospital:

Ward 7 is a 6 room and 23 chair ambulatory care unit which operates 7 Days a week.

We see patients with various haematological malignancies and disorders. This involves supporting each patient’s full cancer journey from diagnosis to remission as well as caring for palliative patients. We give outpatient treatment to haematology patients, which include systemic anti\-cancer treatment (SACT), blood product transfusions, iron infusions and bisphosphonates. We treat outpatient autologous stem cell transplants and follow up care of allogeneic stem cell transplants. Caring for immune compromised patients. We also do minor procedures such as CVAD removal/insertion, Bone Marrow Biopsies, venesections and lumbar punctures.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to broaden your clinical skills in caring for immune compromised patients. We’re looking for staff nurses at various stages of experience to come in and grow with us. Applicants must be willing to train in chemotherapy administration, intravenous cannulation, and central line management, venesections.

Together with a Clinical Nurse Education specialist and senior ward staff you will be mentored and supported in your training to develop necessary skills to work on the unit.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full\-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro\-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
