Job Summary for Goods Handler

The is initially a six month contract working as part of our Goods Handling Team to load and unload HGV lorry's. This position may become permanent. If so, it will be shared with our Despatch Lifting Team (6 months on each department)

For each role you will need to be

• Physically fit


• Flexible with regard to working times/days


• Reliable with good timekeeping and punctuality


• Willing to works outdoors in all weather conditions

• Load and unload lorries


• Shrink wrap Danish trolleys


• Organising trolleys and loading/moving pallets


• Print trolley labels as required


• Assemble stock from various departments to fulfil orders on loading schedule


• Ensure all areas are kept tidy and free of hazards


• Ensure Customer service, quality and health and safety standards are met.


• Typical working hours are Monday–Friday 07:50–16:30\. Overtime may be required during busy periods, sometimes at short notice this could including weekends and bank holidays


• Flexible regarding work tasks: during quieter periods, you will be asked to assist with other departments, such as weeding, potting, production lines, and trimming plants.

This role involves using a tractor and trailer to collect a variety of plants from various locations around the nursery to a specified grade and pot size. You will also need to package the plants carefully to ensure our customers receive them in good condition.

Depending on business needs you will also be helping other departments on the nursery.

Key requirements for the position are:

• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


• Willing to drive a tractor/forklift (previous experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided).


• Self\-motivated, as the role involves an amount of lone working.


• You will need to meet targets with lifting rates to achieve KPIs.


• A strong team player, with the ability to work effectively in small groups on larger orders.


• Excellent attention to detail, ensuring the correct items are lifted to the required standards.


• Flexible regarding working hours: typical hours are Monday–Friday, 06:50–15:30 during the summer months and 07:50–16:30 during the winter months. Overtime may be required during busy periods, sometimes at short notice this could including weekends and bank holidays


• Flexible regarding work tasks: during quieter periods, you will be asked to assist with other departments, such as weeding, potting/production lines, and trimming plants.


• Previous horticultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Pay: £25,938\.00\-£26,323\.00 per year
