Wenvoe Castle Golf Club is a prestigious private members’ parkland golf course set within the grounds of an impressive 18th‑century Mansion House in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan. Originally laid out by James Braid and later enhanced by the C.K. Cotton design company, the course is arranged in two returning nine‑hole loops and now measures 6,514 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 72\.
Founded in 1936, the Club has hosted many notable tournaments throughout its proud history and continues to invest in enhancing the experience for members and visitors alike.
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Assistant Manager as part of a succession plan for the future development of the Club. This role will support our Club Secretary, who holds the function of managing the club. The Assistant Manager role will be assist the Club Secretary to oversee day to day operations of our golf course and related facilities, with a strong focus on marketing, communications, and social media engagement.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, driving revenue, and maintaining the highest standards of presentation. This role requires a highly motivated individual with experience in management, sales and marketing, team supervision, Social media and administrative functions, ensuring smooth daily operations, implementing marketing strategies, fostering a positive environment for staff and guests alike. You will work closely with the Club Secretary to promote and improve services at this private member club.

The aim of the Club is be rated as a must play course in Wales and listed among the top parkland course in Wales
Key Responsibilities
Club Operations \& Management
- Work closely with the Club Secretary, who retains responsibility for all legal and financial matters
- Assist the Club Secretary in the day‑to‑day management of the Club to ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for members and guests, including:
- Effectively communicate with members, including receiving and responding to telephone or email correspondence
- Assist in Club administration, including typical Golf Club aspects such as organising and administering competitions, handicaps, matches and functions
- Assist with overseeing daily clubhouse operations, ensuring high standards of presentation and services are maintained
- Assisting with society and private functions
- Act on instructions from the Management Committee to improve and develop all aspects of the Club experience
- Provide daily updates to the Club Secretary and assist with submitting detailed written progress report to the Management Committee on a monthly basis
- Assisting the Club Secretary with stakeholder management, working closely with the Catering Team, Club House Steward, Head Greenkeeper and Club Professional
- Assisting with contractor and members liaison and coordination to support the maintenance and improvement of clubhouse facilities
- Assist with various protocols and policies in relation to catering, wellbeing, and health, safety, \& environment across the clubhouse and facilities
- Assist with develop and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy to promote:
- Membership recruitment and retention
- Open events, competitions, and social functions
- Visitor golf, societies, and corporate days
- Manage and grow the Club’s social media presence, creating engaging and relevant content
- Assist with coordination of promotions, special offers, and campaigns to increase footfall and revenue
- Assist with the website booking system and keeping the online fixture list up to date
- Assist with leadership and support of clubhouse staff, including recruitment, induction, training, and performance management
- Assist with coordination of staff rotas to ensure appropriate cover during peak periods
- Handle member and visitor enquiries professionally, resolving issues promptly to ensure an exceptional experience, including referring to Club Secretary when required
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a mix of the following skillsets:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confidence using IT systems, websites, and social media platforms
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience or interest in marketing within a leisure or sports setting
- A professional, approachable, and flexible manner
- Previous experience in a golf club, leisure, or hospitality environment is desired but not essential
- Willing to learn about golf competitions, events, and club culture
- Salary: Competitive package based on experience and hours worked with potential bonus structure
- Working hours: Part time \- Flexible, agreed with the Management Committee; primarily on site
