Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust, well-documented software systems using Golang, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production and user-facing issues across distributed systems and services.
- Participate actively in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design processes with global engineering teams.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external contributors to define and refine technical specifications and system improvements.
- Contribute to operational excellence by improving engineering workflows, deployment processes, and system observability.
- In certain cases, deploy, monitor, and operate services owned by the team in production environments.
- Support product success through technical advocacy, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade software in Golang, ideally in Linux-based environments.
- Deep familiarity with Linux systems (Ubuntu or Debian preferred) and strong command of system-level concepts.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and scalable backend architectures (especially for senior-level roles).
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering high-quality work independently and on schedule.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, curiosity, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally twice a year for team gatherings.
- Nice to have: experience with Ubuntu ecosystem tools such as Juju, LXD, MicroK8s, Snapd, Ubuntu Core, or Ubuntu Pro; performance tuning and security expertise.
