General Warehouse Operative

Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive General Warehouse Operative to join our busy clients logistics team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities, including materials handling, stock management, and order fulfilment. Duties

• Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading goods from lorries and storage areas


• Operating forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment (training provided)


• Managing stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory records


• Picking and packing orders accurately for dispatch, ensuring quality standards are met


• Stocking shelves and organising storage areas for optimal space utilisation


• Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and labelling


• Conducting quality control checks to maintain product standards


• Performing basic mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance


• Ensuring the work environment remains clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations

Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for specific tasks


• Knowledge of materials handling techniques and safety procedures


• Experience operating forklift trucks or willingness to undertake certification (training provided)


• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous


• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift


• Mechanical knowledge or aptitude is a plus for equipment maintenance tasks


• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in picking, packing, and stock management


• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team


• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast\-paced environment
