General Practice Assistant (GPA)

Silverdale Practice is excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a General Practice Assistant (GPA). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has excellent communication skills, and is interested in developing both administrative and clinical skills within a busy and supportive primary care environment.

What is a GPA? As a General Practice Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our clinical and administrative teams, helping to improve patient care and the smooth running of the practice. This is a varied and engaging position that provides an excellent introduction to a career in healthcare.

What will you learn? You will gain a wide range of valuable skills, including:

• Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)


• Assisting with urgent illness clinics


• Urine dip testing


• Taking blood pressure measurements


• Supporting clinicians with patient care


• Administrative and patient\-facing duties


• Understanding how a busy GP practice operates

The successful candidate will be enrolled onto the NHS General Practice Assistant (GPA) Programme, working towards nationally recognised accreditation as a GPA while gaining practical experience within the practice.

What we're looking for

We are seeking someone who is:

• Organised and reliable


• Educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) with passes in Maths and English


• Has a full, clean driving licence \& access to a car

Working Hours 27 hours per week

Working days:

• Tuesday


• Thursday


• Friday

Hours: 8:00am – 6:00pm
Lunch: 1 hour unpaid lunch break each day
