Job Objectives
The Registered General Nurse will be responsible for providing safe, person\-centred and clinically appropriate nursing care to residents within the residential setting. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Medication administration and management.
Monitoring residents' health and clinical condition.
Completing nursing assessments and reviewing care plans.
Clinical observations and monitoring of vital signs.
Recognising and escalating changes in residents' health.
Maintaining accurate and timely nursing and clinical records.
Liaising with GPs, community nursing teams and other healthcare professional.
Infection prevention and control.
Supporting nutrition, hydration and continence needs.
Responding appropriately to illness, falls and clinical emergencies.
Supporting residents with complex healthcare needs.
Contributing to safeguarding and reporting concerns appropriately.
Providing guidance and support to care staff within the nurse's scope of practice.
Maintaining residents' dignity, privacy, confidentiality and choice.
Working in accordance with NMBI professional standards, organisational policies and relevant legislation.

Full clean drivers licence
Knowledge of standards and legislation relevant to the area.
Minimum of 2 years' post\-registration nursing experience.
Experience working within a residential care, community or similar healthcare setting.
Experience
Preferred: Experience supporting individuals with poorly controlled or complex Type 2 diabetes, particularly in community, residential or mental\-health settings.
Preferred: Experience liaising with diabetes CNS/endocrinology services and monitoring blood glucose trends to support treatment review.
Essential Criteria
Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification.
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Demonstrable experience in diabetes management, including capillary blood glucose monitoring and safe administration of subcutaneous insulin.
Competence in administering insulin in accordance with a prescribed sliding\-scale/correction\-dose regimen.
Ability to recognise and appropriately manage/escalate hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia and acute diabetic deterioration.
