Bank House is a welcoming and characterful hospitality venue located in the heart of Hathersage, serving both visitors exploring the Peak District National Park and the local community. Combining comfortable accommodation, quality food and drink, and warm hospitality, Bank House aims to provide memorable experiences in one of the region's most popular destinations.
We are looking for a hands\-on, people\-focused General Manager to lead the day\-to\-day operation of Bank House. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a guest\-focused environment, enjoys building strong teams, and can balance exceptional customer experiences with strong commercial and operational performance.
The Role
As General Manager, you will take full ownership of Bank House, ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome while maintaining the high standards expected across all aspects of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the overall operation of Bank House, ensuring excellent performance across food, beverage, and guest services.
- Creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests, visitors, and local customers.
- Recruiting, training, motivating, and developing a high\-performing team.
- Being visible and hands\-on throughout service, particularly during busy periods and peak tourist seasons.
- Overseeing food, drink, and accommodation standards, ensuring quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Managing rotas, stock control, ordering, budgets, margins, and overall financial performance.
- Driving revenue opportunities across food and beverage offerings, and guest experiences.
- Maintaining compliance with food safety, health \& safety, licensing requirements, and company procedures.
- Building strong relationships within the local community and enhancing Bank House's reputation as a destination venue.
- Taking pride in delivering a well\-organised, successful, and highly regarded hospitality operation.
You'll be an experienced hospitality leader who enjoys leading from the front and creating exceptional guest experiences. Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, Pub Manager, or experienced Assistant Manager ready to step into a senior leadership role.
- A background in hospitality, ideally within bars, inns, pubs with rooms, or food\-led venues.
- Confidence operating in busy, visitor\-driven environments with fluctuating seasonal demand.
- A people\-first leadership style with a strong focus on team engagement and development.
- A personal licence and food hygeine certification of least Level 2\.
- Excellent organisational, commercial, and problem\-solving skills.
- Experience managing food and beverage operations.
- A genuine passion for hospitality, guest satisfaction, and delivering outstanding service.
