Full Stack Developer
We're looking for a talented full stack developer to join the development team behind our class\-leading museum and archive collections management software, CollectionsIndex\+.
The role will encompass everything you could imagine, no day here is dull. Client facing conversations, day\-to\-day support, creation of UI features in an accessible rich internet application, middleware API development, data migration, product deployment, all the way down to designing and optimising data storage. You could be involved in any or all in a particular week. You'll be a quick learner, adept at working remotely or in the office while managing your own projects. Interpersonal skills are a must, we're a small team that likes working closely with our customers.
Our current UI framework is based on ExtJS so experience in this would be handy but not vital. As long as you have good experience with at least one complex and modern JavaScript framework we'll be interested. We have our own DBMS that you'll need to quickly get up to speed with so an interest in, and experience of, various forms of database will be a must. The particular technology doesn't matter but your analysis of their various merits does! Constantly moving new clients to our system requires a lot of data migration work, so any experience of ETL work would be advantageous.
First and foremost you'll be a coder and tech evangelist. We don't particularly care what languages in addition to JavaScript are in your CV but you'll have your favourites and be able to pick up new ones easily. We deliver on both Windows and Linux, core development happening on Linux. Ideally you'll have significant relevant commercial experience, but we also invite applications from good graduates. Demonstrable interest in museums, cultural heritage or the creative industries is a plus. If you can hit the ground running and have an immediate impact on our products, we'd love to hear from you.
To apply, please send your CV and a cover letter telling us why you're the right person for the role, to joinus2026@collectionsindex.com
We will be interviewing suitable candidates as applications are received, so please do not delay your application.
System Simulation has always welcomed employees from diverse backgrounds and with wide interests. We strive to be a good, equal opportunities employer. Responses from agencies will not be considered.
