Landmarks operates from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Eckington, S21 4EF.

Landmarks has several satellite provisions in Rotherham, Nottingham city Centre and a “real\-life” hospitality and catering facilitate in Rainworth, Mansfield. These environments enable us to provide a range of personal and vocational training opportunities including:

Main Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to:

1\. Fitness Instruction \& Gym Floor

  • Provide a welcoming, professional and approachable presence on the gym floor.

  • Assist customers with the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, resistance and free\-weight equipment.

  • Deliver gym inductions to new and existing members.

  • Provide basic fitness advice and exercise guidance within the scope of relevant qualifications.

  • Develop appropriate exercise programmes for customers where qualified to do so.

  • Monitor customers' use of the gym and promote safe exercise practices.

  • Ensure gym equipment and facilities are clean, tidy, safe and presented to a high standard.

  • Identify and report faulty or damaged equipment promptly.

  • Promote good customer engagement and encourage members to make effective use of the facilities.

  • Support membership retention by building positive relationships with customers.
2\. Group Exercise Classes
  • Plan, prepare and deliver a range of safe, engaging and professional fitness classes.

  • Ensure all classes are delivered in accordance with relevant qualifications, centre procedures and health and safety requirements.

  • Provide suitable exercise modifications and progressions where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate class attendance records.

  • Set up and safely store equipment before and after classes.

  • Ensure class areas are left clean, tidy and ready for use.

  • Promote classes and encourage customer participation.

  • Respond appropriately to participants' needs and maintain a positive and inclusive class environment.
3\. Customer Service
  • Provide consistently high standards of customer service across the leisure centre.

  • Build positive relationships with members, visitors and colleagues.

  • Deal with customer queries professionally and appropriately.

  • Handle customer concerns and complaints in accordance with centre procedures.

  • Promote memberships, activities, classes and other services offered by the centre.

  • Encourage customers to participate in a healthy and active lifestyle.

  • Maintain professional standards of behavior, appearance and communication at all times.
4\. Wider Centre Support

The Fitness Instructor will be expected to support the wider operation of the leisure centre when required. This may include:

  • Supporting reception and customer service operations.

  • Assisting with general centre duties.

  • Supporting the opening and closing of facilities.

  • Assisting with cleaning, presentation and general housekeeping standards.

  • Supporting other departments and colleagues during busy periods.

  • Assisting with centre activities, events and promotional activity.

  • Carrying out reasonable duties within the scope of the role as requested by management.

  • Working flexibly across the centre to ensure customers receive a high\-quality service.
5\. Key Holder Responsibilities

As a designated key holder, the post holder will be responsible for:

  • Opening and/or closing the leisure centre as required.

  • Following all opening and closing procedures.

  • Ensuring the building is secure when opening and closing.

  • Checking designated areas and facilities as part of opening and closing procedures.

  • Ensuring relevant equipment, systems and facilities are safely switched on/off as required.

  • Managing keys and access codes appropriately and securely.

  • Recording and reporting any issues identified during opening or closing.

  • Following emergency, security and incident procedures.

  • Ensuring the centre is left secure and ready for the next operational period.

  • Escalating any security, maintenance or operational concerns to the appropriate manager.
6\. Health \& Safety
  • Work in accordance with all centre health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe environment for customers, colleagues and visitors.

  • Carry out appropriate checks of fitness and activity areas.

  • Report hazards, defects, accidents and incidents promptly.

  • Follow emergency procedures and participate in emergency drills and training.

  • Hold and maintain appropriate qualifications required for the role.

  • Maintain current first aid and other mandatory qualifications where required.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.

  • Ensure activities and classes are delivered within the instructor's level of competence and qualification.
7\. Administration \& Compliance
  • Complete all required records, checklists and documentation accurately.

  • Record class attendance and gym inductions as required.

  • Complete relevant equipment and facility checks.

  • Follow centre policies, procedures and operating standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality in relation to customers and centre information.

  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions and development opportunities.

  • Keep professional qualifications and mandatory training up to date.

  • Maintain knowledge of current fitness industry practices and relevant guidance.
