<p><strong>About this team and role:</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Firefox Application Security Team sits at the center of Firefox, collaborating with the whole organization through fundamental security projects that range from </span><a href="https://attackanddefense.dev/2025/04/09/hardening-the-firefox-frontend-with-content-security-policies.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">architecture hardening</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and </span><a href="https://hacks.mozilla.org/2026/05/behind-the-scenes-hardening-firefox/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">security research</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to </span><a href="https://hacks.mozilla.org/2026/02/goodbye-innerhtml-hello-sethtml-stronger-xss-protection-in-firefox-148/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">web security</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Our team applies foundational platform improvements as well as automation to scale our work such that it serves all of Firefox and hundreds of millions users worldwide.</span></p>
<p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Learn how our team secures the web and help improve the browsing experience for everyone on the web</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Get support from your manager and your assigned mentor</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Learn and partake in regular team processes that help secure a mature product</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Help investigate security issues with guidance and write test cases using HTML and JavaScript</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Improve existing team processes using Python or expand web security features in Firefox using C++</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Get the chance to learn how to work with the wider open source community</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Optionally, propose and drive your own projects</span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What you’ll bring</strong></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You are enrolled in a university in Germany and are willing to occasionally visit our office in Berlin a few times per year</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You do not need prior security experience, but you should bring either web development, Python, or systems programming experience, and enjoy careful technical investigation.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You are comfortable communicating in English in writing and during meetings</span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Bonus points for:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Participation in student tech communities or experience in documentation, teaching, ormentoring</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Experience with C/C++ and familiarity with the concept of memory safety</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Contributions to open source projects or other group projects</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Understanding of web security concepts</span></li>
