We are currently recruiting for a Financial Services Lead to join a leading housing association. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to lead a high-performing financial services function, overseeing income management, rent accounting, cashflow, payroll controls, tax compliance and financial reporting within a complex organisation.
Working closely with senior finance leaders, treasury colleagues and operational stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust financial controls, delivering accurate financial information, and supporting continuous improvement across the finance function.
Financial Services Lead - Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Financial Services team, providing day-to-day management, coaching and development of finance staff
- Oversee income management, cash collection, credit control, rent accounting and creditor payment processes
- Manage daily and medium-term cashflow forecasting, working closely with Treasury to support funding requirements and surplus cash investments
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations, control accounts and general ledger processes are maintained accurately and on a timely basis
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns for group entities
- Oversee payroll controls and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with pension and statutory obligations
- Manage the preparation and submission of tax returns, including VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax, SDLT, PSA and P11D requirements
- Lead the annual rent and service charge increase process, ensuring compliance and timely implementation
- Produce KPI reporting and Payment Practice Reports, providing insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen processes, controls and service delivery
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Strong experience within financial accounting, financial services, treasury, rent accounting or housing finance
- Demonstrable experience managing and developing finance teams
- Experience overseeing cashflow management, income collection and financial controls
- Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, statutory accounts and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of payroll controls and tax compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Previous housing association experience would be advantageous
