Financial Controller \- Sandwell, West Midlands

The rewards

  • £80,000 \- £90,000 per year plus benefits

The role of Financial Controller:
  • Production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts across multiple entities

  • Ownership of month end close processes and balance sheet integrity

  • Development of meaningful KPI reporting to support operational and commercial decision making

  • Oversight of statutory reporting requirements and year end audit processes

  • Responsibility for VAT, PAYE/NIC, Corporation Tax and wider compliance obligations

  • Ownership and continuous development of detailed 13\-week cashflow forecasting

  • Creation of rolling forecasts and working capital models

  • Development and implementation of budgeting processes across the business

  • Partnering with SLT and budget holders to improve forecasting accuracy and accountability

  • Optimisation of ERP systems and financial processes to improve reporting capability and strengthen controls

  • Development of scalable financial controls suitable for a high\-growth multi\-entity environment

  • Identification and implementation of process improvements across finance operations

  • Day\-to\-day leadership of the finance team including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll

  • Recruitment, mentoring and development of additional finance talent including Management Accountants

  • Acting as a key finance contact across the wider business
The ideal Financial Controller:
  • Fully qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA or CIMA

  • Post\-qualification experience within SME or mid\-sized business environments

  • Previous experience operating within multi\-entity businesses

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments preferred

  • Strong financial control and management reporting experience

  • Experience improving systems, controls and finance processes within growing organisations

  • Proactive and hands\-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast\-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills — ability to build relationships across operational and senior leadership teams

  • Ability to maintain a strategic overview whilst remaining close to operational detail

The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director and will provide accurate reporting to the Board for strategic decision\-making whilst leading the wider finance function.

This role offers significant visibility across the organisation and the chance to work closely with senior leadership, playing a key role in shaping and strengthening the finance function as the business continues to scale.
