Financial Controller H/F
The Financial Controller \& Operations Manager is the operational arm of the VP finance, responsible for budget establishment, management and monitoring, financial forecasting, and IT/infrastructure support. Reporting to the VP finance, this role ensures rigorous budget discipline, provides management with timely financial insights, and supports IT and administrative processes. This is a polyvalent role that bridges finance and operations, providing decision\-support analytics and ensuring efficient use of resources across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Budget Establishment \& Management: Develop annual and multi\-year budgets in collaboration with function heads and VP Finance. Define budget assumptions, coordinate input from all departments (R\&D, Operations, Commercial), consolidate and present budget to VP Finance and management. Own the budget process timeline and quality.
· Budget Monitoring \& Control: Track actual spend vs. budget on a monthly basis. Identify variances and prepare variance analysis with explanations. Alert VP FINANCE to deviations and propose corrective actions. Maintain updated budget dashboards and forecasts for ongoing management decision\-making.
· Financial Forecasting \& Analysis: Prepare monthly/quarterly rolling forecasts and cash flow projections. Conduct financial impact analysis for strategic initiatives (new projects, hiring, investments). Provide management with KPIs and financial trends to support business decisions.
· Reporting \& Management Information: Prepare monthly management reporting (P\&L, balance sheet, cash position, key metrics). Consolidate departmental performance data and present to VP FINANCE and leadership. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
· Cost Management \& Optimization: Monitor departmental costs and spending patterns. Identify cost\-saving opportunities and inefficiencies. Support process improvements and sourcing negotiations to optimize cost structures.
· Administrative Support: Manage expense reports and reimbursements. Maintain supplier files and contracts. Support general administration and procurement processes in coordination with VP finance.
· IT \& Infrastructure Management: Manage IT hardware and software inventory (licensing, refreshes, maintenance). Coordinate with external IT providers and manage IT service contracts. Support cybersecurity and data protection initiatives. Troubleshoot and prioritize IT issues. Maintain IT asset register and documentation.
· Systems \& Process Improvement: Evaluate and implement financial reporting systems and tools. Optimize budget, forecast and reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy. Document financial procedures and controls.
· Support to VP finance: Provide analytical support on strategic projects (fundraising, M\&A, public aid programs). Prepare materials and briefings as needed. Act as a trusted right\-hand to the VP finance on operational and financial matters.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Languages: Professional English (required for internal/external communications and reporting); French: fluent (required).
Experiences / Professional requirements: 5\-8\+ years in finance, accounting, business analysis, or operations roles with demonstrated budget management and financial analysis experience. Experience in a startup, growth\-stage company, or biotech/pharma environment preferred. Proven track record of financial process improvement and cross\-functional collaboration. Strong Excel and financial modeling skills. Experience with financial planning software or ERP systems (SAP, Netsuite, QuickBooks, or similar) is a plus.
Specific knowledge / Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis); Proficiency with financial accounting software and ERP systems; Strong IT infrastructure knowledge (hardware, software licensing, networks, cybersecurity basics); Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP\&A) tools; Familiarity with project accounting (cost allocation, tracking); Understanding of multi\-company accounting (consolidation).
