Financial Controller

Are you a commercially minded finance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for hospitality? We are looking for an experienced and motivated Financial Controller to join our hotel management team and play a key role in driving financial performance and operational excellence.

About the Role

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate management of the hotel’s financial records, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and compliance processes. You will support the General Manager and senior leadership team with financial analysis and strategic decision\-making, while leading and developing the accounts team.

You will oversee all aspects of financial control, including profit and loss reporting, forecasting, audit compliance, payroll oversight, sales ledger management and departmental cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly sales forecasts and monthly Profit \& Loss accounts

  • Analyse financial performance, investigate variances and support corrective actions

  • Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting

  • Ensure accounting records are accurate and compliant with company procedures

  • Manage and monitor sales ledger performance, DSO and bad debt provisions

  • Support internal and external audit processes and implement action plans where required

  • Work closely with department heads to control costs and improve profitability

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Accounts Assistant

  • Support recruitment, training, coaching and performance management within the department

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls and statutory requirements

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism throughout the hotel
Occasional travel will be required to support audits, financial reviews and Hotel Owners meetings.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally within hospitality or hotels

  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills

  • Experience producing management accounts, forecasts and budgets

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Good knowledge of financial systems and Microsoft Office applications

  • A proactive and hands\-on approach with excellent attention to detail
