For the right person, this role offers excellent breadth and exposure. You will work directly with the Commercial Director and Department Heads and have genuine scope to shape reporting, controls, systems and the way Finance partners the wider organisation.

Role Purpose

The Finance Manager will take day\-to\-day ownership of the Finance function, ensuring the business has accurate, timely and commercially meaningful financial information supported by strong controls and effective processes. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the role will lead monthly management reporting, manage and develop the Finance team and partner closely with operational leaders. A key part of the role will be helping Finance become an increasingly proactive and value\-adding function that supports decision\-making, improves performance and provides a strong financial platform for continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts \& Reporting \- Own the monthly management accounts and month\-end process, delivering accurate, timely reporting and clear analysis of performance.

Financial Control \- Maintain strong balance sheet control and financial processes, proactively investigating unusual movements or discrepancies.

Business Partnering \- Work with Department Heads to understand performance, provide meaningful financial insight and support commercial decision\-making and growth plans.

Cash Flow \& Working Capital \- Support cash\-flow forecasting and maintain oversight of debtors, creditors and working\-capital performance.

Finance Team Leadership \- Manage and develop the Finance Assistants, creating clear ownership, high standards and effective cross\-team working.

Budgeting \& Forecasting \- Support annual budgets, maintain forecasts and provide meaningful variance analysis throughout the year.

Compliance \& Ledger Oversight \- Take responsibility for VAT returns and oversee the integrity of purchase ledger, sales ledger, supplier payments and credit control.

Stock, Margin \& Payroll Control \- Support inventory and margin control while overseeing payroll administration, expenses and company credit cards.

Systems \& Process Improvement \- Drive improvements to Finance systems, reporting, controls and workflows, making effective use of Sage 50, Brightpearl, Excel and emerging technology.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong financial control with commercial awareness, curiosity and a willingness to get involved.

You will want ownership and influence: comfortable challenging information, working through problems to resolution and building strong relationships outside Finance. This role will suit someone who enjoys the pace, variety and visibility of an SME and wants to make a tangible contribution to the next stage of a growing business.

Experience \& SkillsEssential

· Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

· Strong management accounting, month\-end and balance sheet control experience.

· Experience overseeing transactional finance, cash flow and working capital.

· Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data and systems.

· Ability to investigate discrepancies and understand the commercial story behind the numbers.

· Strong communication skills and confidence partnering with non\-finance colleagues.

· A proactive, accountable and improvement\-focused approach.

Desirable

· Previous Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar experience within an SME.

· Experience managing or developing junior Finance team members.

· Experience in a stock\-intensive, automotive, engineering, manufacturing, distribution or service\-led environment.

· Experience of Sage 50, Brightpearl and/or improving financial systems and processes.

Job Types: Permanent, Full\-time

Pay: £40,000\.00\-£52,000\.00 per year
