Finance Manager

Robert Scott and Sons Ltd is a well\-established, family\-run business operating across six sites in Northwest England. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function, financial compliance and payroll.

This is a senior, hands\-on role based at Head Office and reporting to the Operations Director.

What You’ll Do

• Take responsibility for all financial compliance and reporting, including tax, VAT, payroll, pensions and other statutory or regulatory returns.


• Produce timely monthly management accounts, financial reports, forecasts and KPI’s for the Directors.


• Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring effective processes, controls and financial procedures are maintained across the business.


• Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking, foreign\-currency exposure, debtors, creditors and associated financial risk.


• Take overall responsibility for the accurate and timely delivery of payroll, including pension contributions, payroll reconciliations and statutory compliance.


• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, supplier payments, business expenses and relevant rental or lease arrangements.


• Provide financial analysis and support for business performance, including costings, overhead recovery and margins.


• Calculate and present customer retrospective rebate calculations.


• Prepare for the annual audit and manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, pension providers and other professional advisers.


• Complete or oversee packaging and waste calculations, declarations and other relevant company reporting requirements.


• Manage the Company’s life and health insurance schemes.


• Maintain and improve finance, payroll and reporting systems, controls and processes.

• Financial qualification and demonstrable experience in a senior finance role.


• Experience of managing a finance function, producing management accounts, managing cash flow and supporting year\-end accounts and audit activity.


• Strong knowledge of financial controls, VAT, payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory compliance.


• Experience of leading or supervising a finance team and working with Directors and external advisers.


• Strong commercial awareness, analytical ability, sound judgement and attention to detail.


• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.


• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using finance, payroll and ERP systems.


• Experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be advantageous.

• Based at Oak View Mill, Manchester Road, Greenfield, OL3 7HG


• 35 hours per week on site (Monday to Friday 9\.00am\-5\.00pm)
