Finance Manager – Multi-Academy Trust

The Opportunity

HB Partners Limited is delighted to be partnering with an established, high-performing Multi-Academy Trust to appoint a Finance Manager to lead its operational finance function.

This is a pivotal, highly visible role. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be the driving force behind a robust, compliant and forward-thinking finance function, working alongside senior leaders, academy teams and governance committees. You will also lead and develop a capable operational finance team. For an ambitious finance professional seeking genuine influence within a values-led organisation, this is an outstanding next step.

What You Will Be Doing

• Leading the operational finance team and delivering a high-quality finance service across the Trust


• Owning month-end, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end financial statements


• Leading internal and external audit activity and ensuring full regulatory compliance


• Designing and embedding strong financial controls, policies and procedures


• Overseeing the finance system to ensure accurate, timely reporting


• Managing cash flow, banking arrangements and the Trust's investment portfolio


• Ensuring accurate HMRC, DfE and other statutory returns


• Helping to shape the Trust's wider finance strategy


• Acting as a trusted adviser, providing financial guidance and training to colleagues across the academies


• Identifying and driving improvements to systems, processes and financial performance

What We Are Looking For

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified


• At least five years' experience within a finance function


• Proven experience managing a finance team


• Strong knowledge of financial controls, audit and regulatory compliance


• Solid experience of financial systems and procedures

Experience within education, a Multi-Academy Trust, charity / not-for-profit or public sector, would be highly advantageous.
