Finance Manager
Role Purpose
The Finance Manager will lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, robust financial controls, and the delivery of timely financial information to support business decision-making within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial analysis.
- Investigate budget variances and provide meaningful commentary.
- Manage month-end processes, including Accounts Payable, VAT, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasting, and cashflow management.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
- Support annual financial and SRA audits.
- Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and financial regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and controls.
- Develop departmental objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Lead, develop, and manage the finance team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
- Deliver financial inductions to new starters and newly promoted partners.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant finance experience, ideally within professional services.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Experience of financial audits, controls, and compliance.
- Strong systems knowledge and process improvement capability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
