An established membership-focused organisation is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join its team. This is a key role overseeing day-to-day financial operations, monthly management reporting and the smooth running of core transactional processes. You will manage a small team and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls and an excellent finance service.
This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys hands-on financial management, improving processes and mentoring junior team members.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the daily transactional finance activity and lead the month-end cycle. Responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day financial transactions and the integrity of the accounting system
- Reviewing and overseeing accounts receivable, purchase orders, bank postings and expenses
- Ensuring all transactions are correctly processed, recorded and reconciled
- Working with internal teams to ensure sales activity in the CRM aligns with the ledger
- Reviewing payroll information and supporting payroll accuracy
- Leading the month-end close process, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing the monthly MI pack in partnership with the Financial Controller and Business Planning team
- Supporting the year-end audit, statutory accounts and audit queries
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting corporation tax and PAYE reporting
- Contributing to finance policies, procedures and process improvements
- Providing guidance and development support to a Finance Apprentice
- A full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience
- Strong financial accounting skills with solid knowledge of controls, reconciliations and technical accounting
- Experience operating within a busy finance function, ideally including month-end and audit
- Good systems knowledge. Experience with Sun Systems and CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Dynamics is desirable
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint ability
- An interest in process improvement and exploring opportunities to use AI and automation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with teams across the organisation
- A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Experience in a membership organisation is desirable but not essential
