Finance Director

We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and commercial insight. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a growing SME and wants to influence decision-making, improve processes and support business growth. Based in Thame, with a hybrid working model.

• Finance Director Key Responsibilities Commercial Finance


• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.


• Drive pricing, profitability and margin improvement initiatives.


• Evaluate investment opportunities and business cases.


• Support international financial planning as overseas operations expand.

• Lead the finance function and manage the Bookkeeper.


• Produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.


• Oversee cash flow, working capital and KPI reporting.


• Monitor profitability and identify performance trends and anomalies.

• Maintain robust financial controls and compliance.


• Manage month-end and year-end processes.


• Liaise with external accountants and auditors.


• Oversee VAT, tax compliance and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Oversee AP, AR, credit control and payroll.


• Improve financial systems, reporting and process automation.


• Support ERP and accounting system optimisation.

A successful Finance Director should have:

• Essential


• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.


• Experience in a similar senior finance role.


• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards.


• Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills.


• Experience of international trading and multi-currency accounting.


• Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
