Finance Director Designate

On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a No.1 Financial Controller role within a growing SME, offering clear progression to Finance Director.

Working closely with the Directors, this is a hands-on and commercially focused position with responsibility for leading the finance function, improving processes and providing insight to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly management accounts, providing accurate reporting and commercial insight.


• Maintain strong financial controls, balance sheet integrity and reconciliations.


• Lead and develop the finance and administration team


• Manage cash flow, working capital and credit risk.


• Partner with Directors on margins, pricing, profitability and business performance.


• Drive improvements to finance systems, processes and reporting.


• Gradually take on wider FD responsibilities, including strategic planning, board reporting and external stakeholder management.

About You

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with strong SME finance experience.


• Commercially minded with strong financial control, cash flow and working capital knowledge.


• Proven team leadership and development experience.


• Hands-on, proactive and confident partnering with senior stakeholders.


• Strong systems and process improvement mindset.


• Ambitious to progress into a Finance Director role and make a significant impact on the growth of the business.
