Role Profile

We have an exciting opportunity in the Finance Department within our Corporate Services Directorate.

The Corporate Services Directorate is responsible for the overall governance of the SEAI and includes Finance, Inspections, Governance and Procurement, Legal, Marketing and Communications, HR \& OD and ICT.

The Finance Team plays a key role in the organisation by tracking performance and enabling organisation decision making at senior management level. We develop and track progress against business plans and engage and inform a range of key internal and external stakeholders on all key issues facing SEAI.

The Finance Team promotes, informs, and implements process and operational improvements that aim to create a more efficient and effective organisation. The Team is responsible for the effective use of SEAI's budget and have systems in place to track, analyse and challenge all areas of the business to ensure high quality outcomes.

Working as part of the Corporate Services team, the Finance Business Partner will have reach and visibility across the whole organisation, gathering, analysing, and understanding financial and non\-financial data, inputting into business and programme decisions.

The Finance Business Partner will play a crucial role in supporting programme teams in achieving objectives. This role will provide key support to various activities such as financial and risk analysis, forecasting, planning, and business case development.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role is key to adding value to the work of the Finance Team and the wider organisation and will enable and influence effective decision making at a senior management level. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high\-quality delivery of SEAI's goals.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • An ordinary degree (Level 7 on the NFQ or greater) or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Fully qualified accountant with membership of a prescribed accountancy body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) in Accountancy.

  • A minimum of six years' post qualification experience.

  • Experience working as part of a Finance function in a relevant industry or similar environment including:

  • Experience working with and ensuring compliance with financial controls and procedures.

  • Experience of managing a team and staff development.

  • Proven experience in delivering programmes analysis.

  • Experience in managing projects involving a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong systems experience including:

  • Experience building and managing strong internal controls and governance.

Desirable Requirements


  • Knowledge of Integra / Centros Financial System.

  • Knowledge / Experience of working in the Public Sector.

  • Knowledge of Power BI reporting and data analytics.

  • Experience of change management.

  • Experience or knowledge of delivering positive customer experiences.

  • Proficient in the Irish language.

Eligibility to Work

The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland. To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate's application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested. Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
