Summary of role:

We are seeking a detail\-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience using Xero accounting software and possess strong analytical skills. This role will support the finance department in various tasks, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, debt collection, and administrative duties.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

1\. Maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software.

2\. Process invoices, payments, and expenses.

3\. Manage debt collection processes, including contacting clients for overdue payments.

4\. Support the month\-end and year\-end closing processes.

5\. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.

6\. Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts and other financial records.

7\. Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.

8\. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Personality:

The ideal candidate is organised, reliable, adaptable, and personable. They should be able to work independently with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. The candidate should be well\-presented, responsible, accountable, and eager to gain new experiences. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with new customers and stakeholders are essential.

Qualifications and Experience

1\. Proven experience as a Finance Assistant or similar role.

2\. Proficiency in using Xero accounting software.

3\. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

4\. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

5\. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

6\. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

7\. AAT or qualified by experience

Specific Job Skills:

Able to self\-motivate and effectively time\-manage own workload, appreciating the need to balance accuracy with any potential deadlines. Possesses interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with all levels both internally and externally. Has an eye for detail and must be able to manipulate large amounts of numerical data in order to produce accurate reporting.
