Overview
We are looking for an eager, proactive individual to support our Head of Finance across STL and the ventures we manage. This role is focused on providing day\-to\-day financial and accounts support, helping ensure smooth financial operations across the business.
The ideal candidate will have an accounts or finance assistant background, with AAT training or qualifications preferred. Training and development can be provided for the right person — we are primarily looking for someone organised, reliable, and keen to grow within the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day\-to\-day financial operations including payroll, invoicing, purchase receipts, and expenses for a number of small clients
- Process payments and monitor bank accounts daily
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Reconcile invoices received with supplier statements
- Issue invoices to customers based on services rendered and/or goods sold
- Review employee expenses and process reimbursements
- Track expenses in relation to specific projects and jobs
- Support the completion of monthly VAT returns
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual reports for audit purposes
- Assist in budget tracking and variance reporting
- Maintain accurate financial records and organised filing systems
- Answer general finance\-related emails and correspondence
- Support the improvement of financial systems and processes
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiencies
- Stay up to date with accounting software and financial best practices
- Previous experience in an accounts assistant, finance assistant, or similar role
- AAT qualification or training preferred
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive and eager to learn
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office and accounting software
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively
This role can be offered on either a full\-time or part\-time basis. (Hybrid or Remote)
Salary: Approximately £35,000 for full time working 37\.5 per week or pro rata depending on experience and hours.
