Finance Assistant – Join a Growing Renewable Energy Business
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of 21 Degrees, a leading provider of sustainable energy and low\-carbon building solutions based in Dunnington, York.
Formerly known as Green Building Renewables, the business became part of the wider 21 Degrees brand in 2024, bringing together decades of expertise in renewable energy, energy\-efficient building technologies, and sustainable construction solutions. Today, 21 Degrees supports homeowners, businesses, architects and developers across the UK with innovative solutions including solar PV, heat pumps, battery storage and energy\-efficient building systems.
As part of continued growth and investment in the finance function, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join the York office. This role will play a key part in supporting the centralisation and development of finance operations, offering excellent exposure and career development opportunities within a fast\-paced and growing business.
The Role
Reporting into the Finance team, you will be responsible for supporting the day\-to\-day financial operations of the business and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing supplier invoices, payments and employee expense claims
- Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers
- Reconciling bank statements and supplier accounts
- Assisting with credit control and chasing outstanding payments
- Supporting month\-end processes, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Responding to internal and external finance\-related queries
- Working within Xero and supporting continuous process improvements
We are looking for a motivated and organised finance professional who is keen to develop their career within a growing business.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeping role
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Xero (desirable but not essential)
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- AAT studies underway or an interest in studying towards AAT qualifications (desirable)
