Are you a multi-skilled engineer looking for something different from the same production line, factory or site every day?

Perhaps you're already a Field Service Engineer, or you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking to take your electrical and mechanical skills into a field-based role where you'll work independently, visit a variety of industrial sites and develop specialist knowledge within water treatment.

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established and growing engineering business specialising in industrial water treatment and process systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team covering the South West and surrounding areas.

You do not need to come from the water industry.

Experience with reverse osmosis, water treatment or process utilities would certainly be advantageous, but the priority is finding a strong, practical electrical/mechanical engineer who can fault find, work independently and confidently deal with customers.

Engineers from manufacturing, FMCG, utilities, pumps, facilities, chemical/process environments and industrial field service backgrounds are all of interest.

What you'll be doing Working from home and travelling directly to customer sites, you'll take responsibility for the service, maintenance, fault finding and commissioning of industrial water treatment equipment.

Your role will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across customer sites.

  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial plant and equipment.

  • Working with pumps, motors, valves, pipework, filtration equipment, dosing systems and associated controls.

  • Servicing and troubleshooting reverse osmosis and other water treatment systems, with training available where required.

  • Supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.

  • Diagnosing faults and getting critical customer equipment back into operation.

  • Providing technical support to customers and plant operators.

  • Completing service reports and accurately documenting work carried out.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance.

  • Managing your own workload and representing the business professionally on customer sites.

What we're looking for We're interested in speaking with engineers who have:
  • A strong electrical and mechanical engineering background.

  • A recognised engineering qualification or relevant time-served experience.

  • Hands-on experience maintaining and fault finding industrial equipment.

  • Good knowledge of equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, pipework, controls or process plant.

  • The confidence to diagnose problems independently rather than simply replace parts.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to deal directly with customers.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Flexibility to travel as part of a field-based engineering position.

Previous water treatment, reverse osmosis, filtration or process utility experience is desirable, not essential.

What's in it for you? This is an opportunity to take your existing engineering skills into a specialist and growing industry without needing years of previous water treatment experience.

You'll receive a competitive salary, alongside:

  • Profit Related Bonus

  • Company Vehicle & Fuel Card

  • Health & Wellbeing Cash Plan

  • Workplace Pension

  • Specialist technical training and development

  • Home-based field role

  • Varied work across a wide range of industrial customer sites

For an engineer who enjoys fault finding, likes being trusted to manage their own day and wants more variety than a traditional site-based maintenance position, this could be an excellent next move.

Are you up to the challenge? If this sounds like the right move for you, please apply today or contact engineering specialist recruiter Liam Reid at Yolk Recruitment for a confidential discussion.

Not from water treatment? Don't let that put you off. If you're a strong electrical/mechanical engineer with transferable industrial experience, we'd still like to hear from you.

Please note, whilst we do our best to contact all candidates, due to the high number of applications we receive we cannot guarantee this for every role. If you have not heard anything from us within 7 days of applying, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful. Please keep an eye on our website for further opportunities.
