Female Support Assistant
Female Support Worker / Personal Assistant – Barry
Everycare Cardiff
Full\-Time and Part\-Time Opportunities Available
Everycare Cardiff is looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic female Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting a delightful young lady in Barry.
This is a highly rewarding role supporting an active young woman who enjoys making the most of life. She has a fantastic sense of humour, loves being outdoors and enjoys trips to parks, swimming, museums, theatre and cinema sensory sessions, socialising with friends and, most of all, dancing!
The young lady is an electric wheelchair user. With support from her carers, she is able to stand and assist with aspects of her personal care. She has learning disabilities and, although largely non\-verbal, uses a sophisticated communication system similar to PECS, enabling her to communicate many of her needs and preferences very effectively. She also lives with epilepsy; full training and support, including the administration of rescue medication, will be provided.
You will be supporting her both at home and in the community, helping her to maintain an active, fulfilling and enjoyable lifestyle while promoting her independence, choice and wellbeing.
Hours
We welcome applications from both full\-time and part\-time candidates. The existing member of the support team works Monday to Friday and there is flexibility for a job\-share arrangement for the second position.
Typical hours are:
Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm
Ability to cover some 9:00am starts once or twice per week to assist with morning routines would be desirable
Driving Requirements
As part of the role, you will drive the young lady's adapted vehicle to appointments and social activities. The vehicle is straightforward to drive and is similar in size to a standard estate car, with a wheelchair hoist fitted to the rear.
Applicants must:
Hold a full UK driving licence
Be aged 21 or over
Have at least one year's driving experience
Have no serious driving endorsements
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Caring, patient and compassionate
Reliable and committed
Confident working independently and as part of a team
A good communicator
Keen to support someone to live an active and fulfilling life
Happy to participate in community activities and outings
Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Why Join Everycare Cardiff?
This is an opportunity to build a meaningful, long\-term working relationship and make a genuine difference to someone's quality of life every day.
As this role is dedicated to supporting one individual, the successful applicant will primarily work within this package of care. Should the support arrangements change in the future, Everycare Cardiff would seek to offer suitable alternative work opportunities within the organisation wherever possible.
Female applicants only. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 due to the personal care requirements of the individual being supported.
Pay: £14\.35 per hour
