<p><strong>About the role</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for a dynamic candidate to join the Daily Mail’s growing Features desk in our New York office as Assistant Editor.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will have at least four to five years of newsroom experience working at a newspaper, news website, magazine or television news show. Ideally you will be comfortable writing as well as editing as the role is varied, and some degree of flexibility is a plus.</p>
<p>This is an in-office position and a 9-hour shift Monday to Friday, but applicants must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts as news arises.</p>

<p><strong>Main Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>Your responsibilities will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Pitching feature ideas daily</li>
<li>Composing briefs for feature writers</li>
<li>Editing under tight deadlines</li>
<li>Restructuring articles</li>
<li>Researching article ideas</li>
<li>Fact-checking drafts of feature articles</li>
<li>Legalling articles and working on sourcing with reporters.</li>
<li>Working with photo editors to create images to illustrate articles</li>
<li>Building articles in a content management system</li>
<li>Processing contributor payments</li>
<li>Familiarity with online research tools is essential</li>
</ul>
