Location - Manchester City Council, The Farm Centre, Heaton Park, Manchester, Lancashire, M25 2SW
Pay Rate - £13.45 per hour (PAYE)
Working Hours - Full Time for the next 2 - 3 Months, (working on a rota basis to cover weekends)
Manchester City Council is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Farm Assistant to join the team at The Farm Centre, Heaton Park on a temporary full-time basis for the next 2 - 3 months.
This is a varied, hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high standards across public facilities. As this is an outdoor and physically demanding position, applicants must be physically fit, comfortable working in all weather conditions, and happy working around animals.
Day to day of the role:
As an Estates Assistant, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, responsive facilities management service, helping to ensure that visitors, staff, and service users enjoy a clean, safe, and secure environment.
You will provide a flexible and customer-focused service, undertaking a variety of duties to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the site.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Maintain the internal and external appearance and cleanliness of buildings and surrounding areas.
- Carry out routine inspections, identify issues, and report any maintenance concerns.
- Liaise professionally with visitors, customers, and colleagues.
- Deal efficiently and courteously with enquiries, both verbal and written.
- Update and extract information from management systems and complete relevant documentation accurately and confidentially.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and independently to maintain safe working environments.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Contribute to site security through the operation of security systems, locking and unlocking buildings, setting alarms, and maintaining the safe custody of keys.
- Support the overall operation of The Farm Centre and surrounding facilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Valid Standard DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual and outdoor work
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Comfortable working around animals
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious approach to work
