Family and Young Person Drug & Alcohol Practitioner
Purpose of the Role
To provide a structured approach within the D15 family support service for young people engaged in varying levels of substance misuse be it their own or within family.
This will be a new role within the Family Support Team and will have scope for development.
Primary responsibilities / Duties of the role.
- Work directly with under 18yrs who are actively engaged in drug or alcohol misuse through the Adolescent Reinforcement Approach (ACRA).
- Develop strategic partnerships with other agencies, including, educational, justice, mental health, social care and community agencies.
- Engage and work directly with under 18yrs through early identification of alcohol or drug use through outreach detached work.
- Working with families directly affected by a loved ones drug or alcohol misuse through the 5 Step Method.
- Research and develop community strategies and supports for under18yrs in recovery.
- Ability to engage at risk vulnerable target groups with skills in empowering others and facilitating development.
- Ability to support/advise individuals and families on options available. Ensure the highest ethical and professional standards of care are delivered in a safe environment.
- Promote and deliver evidence\-based programmes such as ACRA, CRA, MI, 5 Step Method, Steps 2 Cope.
- Empower service users to make positive meaningful changes and enhance progression.
- Devise, design and collaborate on informed care planning and key working.
- Deliver and facilitate groups with young people and parents both inhouse and within the community.
- Prepare and submit relevant outcome reports. In order to maintain and develop evidence of effectiveness.
- Be proficient in Child Protection guidelines and recognition of risk factors and Hidden Harm in the family.
- Have a good working knowledge of Community Work methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise with a wide range of contacts, build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Excellent standards of accuracy and attention to detail both with practice and administration of the workload.
- Ability to be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively within a pressurised environment.

- A minimum of 2\-year relevant experience working directly with young people.
- A minimum of 2\-year experience with individuals or families affected by drug or alcohol misuse and or addiction related field.
- Demonstrate ability to engage, build and maintain relationships with at risk, vulnerable young people.
- Profiecent IT skills e.g. MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Access to car and full driving licence.
- Working from an informed care planning, key work and case management structure.
- Experience of working with young people and families affected by alcohol or related problems.
· Experience of group facilitation and one to one service provision.
- Training/Trained/Accredited in ACRA, CRA, MI, 5 Step, Steps to Cope.
- Experience working in a detached outreach capacity.
