*About Us*

Lancashire County Council is the fourth largest local authority in England and covers a large geographic area and a wide range of communities both urban and rural. The Council's remit is substantial, varied and complex, delivering a wide range of services to the 1\.2 million people who live here.

The Facilities Management Service has a number of different strands across the wider service including maintenance, cleaning, accommodation planning, catering, conferencing, property compliance and operational management. This role is based in the Operations and Compliance team who work across 140\+ properties across Lancashire. The focus of this team is ensuring properties are safe and operational to enable LCC colleagues and partner agencies to complete their roles.

Applying the Council's values of being supportive, innovative, respectful, and collaborative, the FM service is passionate about ensuring our premises fully support the delivery of Council services to the citizens of Lancashire and make an effective contribution to the realisation of the Council's vision to make Lancashire the best place to live, work, visit and prosper.

We are looking to hire a Facilities Manager to play a critical role within our operations and compliance team. We are therefore seeking a self\-motivated and effective facilities operations manager who has experience of working in a similar role and who understands the challenging nature and demands of managing the provision of facilities services to a diverse range of premises across a geographic area.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in an FM role or a similar discipline and will possess knowledge of relevant legislation together with a thorough understanding of the operational requirements that impact sites with multiple occupiers. The role will require a strong communicator and an efficient multitasker due to the nature of the role.

The role will have an office base of Preston but a portfolio of sites across West Lancashire, Chorley and Leyland. However, in line with the Council's Our Ways of Working initiative the role will offer agile working flexibility and will involve travel across the County of Lancashire. The successful candidate will therefore require a full UK driving license, have a vehicle available for business use and will need to be flexible when it comes to travel and work location.

Please ensure that you fully consider the job description, person specification and the advert information for this role and when completing your application and demonstrate how your qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills match these requirements. Applications that fail to do this will not be taken forward.

In addition to a competitive salary, employment with Lancashire County Council affords a range of other great benefits, including:

  • 26 days annual leave, rising to 32 days after five years' continuous service, plus eight bank holidays and two additional days leave during the Christmas and New Year period.

  • Ability to buy up to 20 days additional leave per year – dependant on your job role and business need.

  • Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution of 16\.3%, death in service payments, life assurance and dependents pensions.

Learning and development opportunities, including access to apprenticeship scheme funded training.
  • Further details of the benefits you could enjoy by working for Lancashire County Council can be viewed on the 'Working at Lancashire' pages of our vacancies website.
We do not hold a sponsorship licence and can only consider applications from candidates who are legally entitled to work in the UK. If you do not have the right to work in the UK, your application will not progress.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
