Overview
We are seeking a skilled Facilities Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Facilities Director, the role will play a key role in ensuring that the 2 sites are fully operational at all times.
Specifically, the role will support hands\-on technical support with planning, compliance, coordination, writing reports including the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) reports, building PPM schedules and sourcing spare parts and materials.
This is a ‘hands on’ role, the job holder will come from a background in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building maintenance or similar. You will bring a strong understanding of site conditions, plant, tool and work equipment.

Duties
- Support isolation, reinstatement, and testing of equipment during maintenance or repair works.
- Provide technical input into method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work.
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for contractors regarding site standards and equipment condition.
- Support commissioning and decommissioning of equipment and assets.
- Verify completed works to ensure they meet technical and safety standards.
- Review and maintain PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) reports.
- Develop, update, and manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with statutory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, etc.)
- Maintain accurate asset registers, maintenance logs, and inspection records.
- Support internal and external audits and inspections.
- Source spare parts, components, tools, and consumables, ensuring technical compatibility.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to identify correct specifications and alternatives.
- Raise purchase orders and track parts from order through to delivery.
- Support day‑to‑day facilities operations across buildings and plant.
- Ensure all activities align with health \& safety policies and site procedures.
- Experience in a facility maintenance environment
- Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
- Practical understanding of equipment condition, servicing requirements, and safe systems of work
- Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills
- Good IT skills, including Excel (essential)
- Driving Licence (essential)
- Knowledge of additional compliance areas (LOLER, Legionella, COSHH, Fire Safety)
- First Aid, PASMA, IPAF, or similar site competencies
