Job Overview
This is not a dog‑sitter role.

A dog sitter turns up, keeps the dog safe and leaves.

This role is for a dog carer \- someone who provides deeper, more thoughtful, dog‑led care before, during and after every booking, following our established three‑stage care model.

We are seeking an experienced, self‑employed Dog Carer to provide exceptional in‑home care for our clients’ dogs, primarily providing cover when our lead carer is unavailable. As an award‑winning business with 2\.5 years of happy clients, we pride ourselves on delivering care that goes far beyond the basics.

This role is not entry‑level. We are looking for someone who can uphold our established standards, represent our brand with professionalism, and provide the same level of care that earned us recognition as *Dog Sitter of the Year (Southern Region)* May 2025 and a feature on a US podcast in May 2026\.

The ideal candidate will have proven professional dog‑care experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver personalised, attentive care before, during and after each booking.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in‑home dog care for daytime, evenings, weekends and bank holidays or overnight 24\-hour care (sometimes long periods) when required

  • Prepare personalised care schedules before each sit, including any breed‑specific or dog‑specific research

  • Follow each dog’s routine precisely, adapting calmly to unexpected situations

  • Send regular photo, video and text updates throughout every sit

  • Communicate warmly and professionally with clients

  • Follow up with clients after each sit to ensure their dog has settled

  • Maintain a clean, safe and reassuring environment in the client’s home

  • Carry out a thorough end‑of‑stay clean after every overnight booking, including stripping and washing bedding and towels

  • Monitor each dog’s behaviour and wellbeing, reporting concerns promptly and taking sensible, proactive steps to resolve minor issues as they arise

  • Engage dogs in appropriate enrichment, play, rest and exercise

  • Occasionally create content for social media (photos, reels, captions) that reflects our brand
Requirements
  • Minimum 1–2 years proven professional dog‑care experience

  • References from previous dog‑care roles

  • A strong record of reliability and low sickness absence. The lead carer has never cancelled a booking due to ill health, and maintaining this standard is essential.

  • DBS certificate

  • Pet first aid training

  • Own insurance (or willingness to arrange it)

  • Confident with social media, photography and basic tech

  • Registered as self‑employed with HMRC and able to manage your own tax return

  • Based in London

  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently

  • Calm, proactive and able to think on your feet

  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills

  • Genuine passion for dogs and understanding of their behavioural needs

  • Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules

  • Someone whose lifestyle and work commitments allow them to put the dogs first — ideally with a flexible remote role that does not interfere with care

  • Clean, tidy and able to complete a thorough end‑of‑stay clean after overnight bookings
