YOUR IMPACT
You will work in teams as an analyst practitioner to solve pressing and complex issues at clients through deploying estimating and other analytical tools to develop construction should cost models, as well as support the development of new proprietary tools, benchmarking databases and market perspectives.
You will often work in teams of typically 3\-5 consultants, playing an active role in client engagements. This includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses and developing communication and recommendations. You’ll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members.
You’ll focus on building and scaling analytical solutions used for engagement across portfolio optimization, project development and value improvement, project execution, cost and schedule diagnostic. You will prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for large\-scale capital projects using advanced software tools and internal proprietary databases.
You will contribute to McKinsey’s industry knowledge by staying up to date with the latest in the capital projects industry and you will contribute to proprietary models and analyses. This includes gathering the information necessary to develop these tools and synthesize your findings into McKinsey formatted products. These products may be in the form of complex models and summary reports which evolve into standalone presentations that outline key findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences.

Capital Analytics provides distinctive analysis, insights, and support to major capital projects across sectors. Our dedicated analysts apply proprietary tools and methodologies and a data\-driven approach.

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field.
1\+ years of experience working on major capital projects for either an owner or contractor, ideally within project management or project controls.
1\+ years of hands\-on experience with construction estimating software for large\-scale capital projects.
Prior experience in consulting, strategic planning, or research is a distinct advantage.
Proficiency with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) is highly preferred.
Familiarity with other industry tools is a strong asset (e.g., Cleopatra Estimating, Autodesk ProEst, Sage Estimating, InEight Estimating, Trimble Accubid, Bluebeam, Stack, RIB CostX, ICEC, or ACostE).
Advanced Excel modeling capabilities and experience managing, structuring, and analyzing large datasets using database tools.
Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and structured problem\-solving skills.
A proven record of leadership and taking initiative within professional, academic, or extracurricular settings.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team\-oriented environment.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex, technical data into clear, actionable insights
