Summary

• The Service Manager – Environmental Operations is a pivotal role responsible for leading and delivering high\-quality frontline environmental services across the borough. This position ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous service improvement while managing a large workforce. The role is crucial in maintaining high standards for residents, businesses, and stakeholders, providing strategic and operational leadership in a 24\-hour service environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large operational workforce (up to 150 staff) through Supervisors and Assistant Managers.


• Ensure compliance with health \& safety regulations, service standards, and contractual requirements.


• Monitor and drive service performance against KPIs, implementing improvements where necessary.


• Identify and resolve service issues promptly, ensuring sustainable solutions.


• Manage budgets, resources, and operational planning effectively.


• Deliver continuous service improvement and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• Essential Experience Required

+ Proven experience managing large teams within environmental services, waste management, or a related operational environment.
+ Strong track record of delivering high\-quality, customer\-focused public services.
+ Experience managing budgets and driving cost\-effective operational performance.

• Essential Qualifications Required

+ Full UK driving licence.
+ Relevant management\-level experience in environmental or waste services.
+ Strong leadership and people management skills.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Additional Information

• Location: Hackney, London.


• Rate: £31\.19 – £42\.03 per hour (Umbrella).


• Contract: Full\-time \| Shift\-based (including evenings, nights \& weekends).


• We work on a bi\-weekly schedule.
