• Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am\-4:30pm


• Salary: Up to £39,000 DOE

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our Education team in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for both ECTs and experienced teachers who are passionate about delivering high\-quality English teaching to young people.

The successful candidate will teach English across KS3, Functional Skills at NCFE level and GCSE, supporting students to achieve positive outcomes academically and personally.

Job Description

• The postholder will be a newly qualified or experienced English subject specialist teacher who is able to teach English from KS3 through to NCFE Functional Skills and GCSE level.


• You will deliver high\-quality English teaching in line with the curriculum, under the guidance of the Head of Secondary/ Post 16 and Senior Leadership Team.


• Working as part of the English team, you will contribute to the delivery and development of the English curriculum offer for all students, including English accreditation.


• You will work collaboratively with colleagues to share good practice and support the continued development of teaching and learning within the department.


• You will be emotionally intelligent and professionally curious, engaging with internal and external professional development opportunities as appropriate.


• Teachers at JEP make the education of their YPs their first concern through quality\-first teaching and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in JEP curriculum drivers: attendance, engagement, behaviour choices, and academic progress

• The postholder will support the delivery of English provision, including English accreditation, for YPs at JEP.


• Deliver engaging and effective English lessons across KS3, Functional Skills, and GCSE, meeting the diverse needs of learners.


• Support the implementation of the English curriculum in line with agreed policies, procedures, and schemes of work.


• Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development within the English department.


• Use effective formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform teaching, ensuring accurate records of student achievement.


• Support internal quality assurance processes, including moderation and scrutiny activities, to maintain high standards of English teaching and learning.


• Work collaboratively with colleagues and the Head of Secondary/ Post 16 to reflect on the impact of English teaching and contribute to continuous improvement.


• Support examination processes for English qualifications, including Functional Skills and GCSE, as required.


• Assist with examination access arrangements for English, working alongside the Head of Education and relevant staff.


• Maintain positive behaviour support strategies in line with JEP policies and contribute to a safe, supportive learning environment

• A relevant degree and teaching qualification.


• Relevant training.


• Teaching experience of the subject and GCSEs required.


• Contribution to the subject area.


• Experience of planning and curriculum development.


• Experience of leading a team within the specialist subject

• Can teach up to GCSE level


• A passion to work with YPs in an alternative provision setting


• Functional Skills experience


• Must hold a full UK driving license
