Engineering Machining Manager – Wolverhampton

Working within a specialist PE owned Group and at their machining and grinding operation near Wolverhampton, our client is seeking a NEW Engineering Machining Manager to support their ongoing drive on efficiency and manufacturing growth activity primarily within the global aerospace and industrial sectors.

Managing a team of circa 30 people, the role is focused on successful day-to-day operational efficiency, engineering strength, accurate schedule adherence as well as maintaining their journey in continuous improvement and best practice. This is a hands-on role reporting to and working closely with the CEO.

Working to high tolerances and primarily with specialist carbon-based materials as well as some metallics, the Engineering Machining Manager should have considerable experience of working and leading engineering/manufacturing teams across CNC grinding, machining or similar precision operations. This role would ideally suit candidates who have seen career success within similar fast paced market driven SME organisations (aerospace, defence, automotive, medical).

You will be site based and have continuing shopfloor engagement working alongside the operations/commercial teams. The shopfloor presence will enable you to manage and monitor the technical engineering manufacturing capabilities, support throughput, solve problems and support accurate delivery, quality and NPI.

Candidates must be good communicators, flexible with an excellent work ethic and be prepared to work hard in a fast-paced environment.

Specifically, you will:

  • Ensuring best engineering practice and able to support accurate capabilities deployment, including NPI, NPD and manufacturing accuracy.

  • Work with the managerial team to address any issues, setbacks or manufacturing/engineering concerns across the production processes

  • Work with the internal teams alongside the contract review and KPI processes, discussing new production methods or ways to reduce production costs and increase company profits.

  • Support the ISO 9001/AS9100 quality/documentation procedures and ensure ongoing conformance to customer demands and business practices.

  • Assign tasks as required

Candidates should be suitably qualified, ideally to degree level or have relating practical and proven experience.
