About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Engineer with a specific qualification in Non\-Domestic BER Assessment and a strong track record in delivering high\-quality assessments for commercial and public buildings. This role involves technical analysis, on\-site evaluations, and the preparation of compliant BER reports in line with SEAI standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting energy efficiency, retrofit, and decarbonisation projects across a range of building types.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Non\-Domestic BER assessments in accordance with SEAI regulations, methodologies, and technical guidance.

  • Conduct detailed building surveys, site inspections, and data collection exercises.

  • Prepare accurate BER certificates, advisory reports, and supporting technical documentation.

  • Undertake energy modelling using approved software including iSBEMie and/or G\-iSBEM.

  • Provide expert guidance on energy performance improvements and decarbonisation opportunities for non\-domestic buildings.

  • Support clients and project teams in identifying energy efficiency measures and retrofit solutions.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and clients to deliver high\-quality outcomes.

  • Ensure all assessments and reports comply with internal quality assurance procedures and statutory requirements.

  • Maintain awareness of evolving energy performance regulations, assessment methodologies, and industry best practice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's (Honours) degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or similar), Building Services, Building Performance, or another related discipline.

  • SEAI Registered Non\-Domestic BER Assessor (essential).

  • Minimum one year of experience undertaking Non\-Domestic BER assessments (preferred).

  • Proficiency in using iSBEMie and/or G\-iSBEM to produce Non\-Domestic BERs.

  • Up\-to\-date knowledge of EPBD developments and recent changes to the BER assessment process.

  • Strong understanding of building services, building fabric performance, and energy modelling principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and technical report writing skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage multiple assessments.

  • Full Irish Driving Licence.
Desirable
  • SEAI Registered Display Energy Certificate (DEC) Assessor.

  • Experience undertaking Non\-Domestic BER Uplift Analyses and Decarbonisation Pathway Reporting.

  • Knowledge and experience in energy auditing, particularly SI 426 and SI 599 compliant audits, the SEAI Support Scheme for Energy Audits (SSEA), and the Energy Efficiency Directive.

  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, commercial and residential retrofit projects, and mechanical and electrical building services.

  • Experience using IESVE for thermal modelling, Non\-Domestic BER assessments, daylight analyses, and building performance simulations.

  • Knowledge of DEAP and Domestic BER assessment methodologies.

  • Experience supporting retrofit design, energy efficiency upgrades, or building performance improvement projects.
Salary

Negotiable depending on experience.
